York International offers Graduate Students the opportunity to study abroad for one semester. This exchange can take place anytime before the student’s final semester at York and is available for both MA students and PhD candidates. More information can be found at York International.
The York International website provides students with a list of York International partner institutions, organized by country. Many of these institutions have graduate programs in Art History or Visual Culture. Examples of schools with programs that might be of interest to our students include: Freie Universität Berlin, Germany; Korea University, Soeul; University of York, United Kingdom; and Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Exchanges generally last 4 months with students paying York fees for that semester. Exchanges can take place in either the Fall or Winter semester. Certain institutions in China, France, Germany and Singapore also provide Summer Research programs. There are a number of funding opportunities for students at both the Institutional and Provincial level, more information can be found York International—Funding. Graduate students can opt for either a course-based or research-based exchange but must arrange for a supervisor at the partner institution. It is not advisable for students to plan an exchange during their final semester before graduation.
Interested students should attend an exchange information session in the fall. These take place on the Keele campus twice a week. Dates and locations can be found on the York International website. Students can also visit the York International website or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
